Town Of Presque Isle: 2008 Ais Control, Public Awareness, Education And Prevention Project: The Town of Presque Isle, Vilas County, is sponsoring an AIS grant which will focus on AIS education, prevention, and monitoring.

Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and expand current CB/CW program at town landings; 2) Recruit volunteers and begin AIS monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 3) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 4) Construct 8 kiosks and install at busiest public landings in Presque Isle; 5) Educational efforts including education/information forums, children's story hour, media releases, and presentations; 6) Conduct a CB/CW and AIS monitoring workshop; 7) Develop final report.

Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection Form 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 2) AIS kiosks and photos; 3) Educational efforts and media releases; 4) 75 CB/CW hours; 5) 75 AIS monitoring hours; 6) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, educational activities, media releases, and kiosk activities.

Town Of Winchester: Ais Community Awareness: The Town of Winchester is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning project to be completed by December 31, 2007. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, and monitoring.

Project activities include:
1) Recruit volunteers and implement a Clean Boat/CleanWaters program at town landings
2) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines
3) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website
4) Construct 5 AIS signboards
5) Construct an AIS display for municipal building, public library and traveling
6) Educational efforts including media releases, presentations and newsletters

The project will focus on preventing AIS introductions into town lakes, increasing public awareness of AIS and monitoring for AIS.

Project activities include:
1) Recruit volunteers and implement a Clean Boat/Clean Water program at town landings
2) Hire a one day a week employee through contractual agreement with North Lakeland Discovery Center. Employee will display town boat and hand out literature during the mornings and conduct CB/CW trainings during the afternoons of the St. Germain weekly flea market
3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines
4) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website
5) Develop AIS awareness materials (windshield cards, grocery bags, bait container labels, placemats, and other AIS hand-out literature)
